What a spectacular day it was in Hoekwil for the 2025 edition of the Cape Multisport Club’s annual road race! With almost 500 enthusiastic participants across the 10km, 21km, and the 3km fun run, Hoekwil was alive with energy and excitement.
Ideal winter weather set the perfect scene as the 10km and 21km races got underway at 8am, leading runners along the breathtaking 7 Passes Road via Touwsranten. With rolling farmlands and the majestic Outeniqua Mountains as a backdrop, athletes soaked in the beauty of the route. Adding to the magic, local residents from Touwsranten lined the roads with cheers and encouragement, creating a heartfelt atmosphere that lifted every runner.
Though a few cheeky hills tested stamina, it was the vibrant water tables that truly stood out. Marshals and assistants went the extra mile — cheering, offering words of encouragement with every cup handed out. Their energy and dedication lifted weary runners and added a memorable boost to the route. A burst of winter sun lit up the final stretch — the perfect finish-line welcome.”
At the finish, a festive country-style bazaar by Die Vleie NG Church treated runners and supporters to local favourites — from kieppie-burgers to pancakes — while enjoying the lively sounds of the Hoekwil Donkie Kar Band.
