Successfull Two Lagoons Race

The atmosphere was electric on Saturday, February 8, 2025, as nearly 400 runners gathered at the starting line of the Two Lagoons Race at Libertas Guest Farm, Hoekwil. Excitement filled the air as participants prepared to take on the challenge of either a 10km or 30km route, each offering its own unique test of endurance and spirit.

The 10km route, while less demanding than the 30km challenge, still proved to be a satisfying test for participants. The undulating course, featuring one challenging uphill section, took runners through scenic farmlands. Along the way, competitors were treated to views of cows grazing in lush fields, fynbos, plantations, and the breathtaking Outeniqa mountain. This route provided the perfect balance of difficulty and beauty, allowing participants to connect with nature while pushing their physical limits.

The 30km route, on the other hand, was a true test of strength and perseverance. Starting with a winding out-and-back stretch along the famous 7 Passes Road, runners were greeted with the panoramic beauty of the area. The course took participants into Swartvlei Guest Farm, nestled in a stunning landscape of farmland, forest, and the tranquil shores of Swartvlei Lake. The runners were treated to views of both Pine Lake and Swartvlei, offering breathtaking scenery as they moved forward. However, the true challenge came at T-Shirt Hill, a notorious climb known for testing competitors to their physical and mental limits. After conquering the hill, participants made their way back toward 7 Passes Road to complete the final stretch toward the finish line at the beautiful Libertas Guest Farm.

The weather on race day was overcast, providing a welcome break from the heat. Along the course, water stations stocked with water, Coke, fruit, sweets, and sandwiches helped to keep runners hydrated and fuelled. The enthusiastic encouragement of marshals further lifted spirits and motivated participants to continue through to the finish line.

Once again, another successful Two Lagoons Race – Cape Multisport Club would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to its success. Special thanks go to Libertas Guest Farm for providing their beautiful venue and offering their support with the organization arrangements, as well as to Swartvlei Guest Farm for the use of their property and opening their stunning farm for runners to enjoy. We also want to thank the following water stations managed by the Fairy Knowe Hotel, Capitec Bank, Rawson Properties, and Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty Teams supporting and encouraging the runners on the route. A big thank you to Fairy Knowe Hotel generously provided the prize money. To ASWD thank you for your support and timekeeping. Finally, a big thank you to all the participating clubs and runners, whose energy and determination made the event such a memorable success.
