The annual Cango half and full marathon was held on Saturday 23 February. True to Oudtshoorn style, the day was hot, dry and if I didn’t mentioned it yet…..HOT!
Our small band of red warriors set out on the course with high spirits, high expectations and high hopes….some of those expectations became a reality on the day! Bheki Maphanga ran a very impressive 3.29.29, a solid performance in that heat! Super well done Bheki! Always an inspiration to other runners.
Our Chairman, Andrew Thorpe, ran his heart out and came in under 4 hours, a dream that eluded him for a long time but he held out and delivered a very good time of 3.59.04, this also improved his seeding at Two Oceans to a C and at Comrades to a D! Well done Andrew!
Sonja and Tertius Steyn, our super husband and wife team, ran well and came in with a solid time and right on what they planned to do! You guys are always inspirational and a pleasure to see on the road.
Robbie Joubert finished his marathon in 4.29.02, well done Robbie! Just show the youngsters a thing about determination!
The Half Marathon produced some super results:
Eugene Marais – 1.31.51, Liezl Snyman – 1.51.51, Gerrit Du Toit – 1.54.29, Philip Briggs – 1.59.21, Adele Vorster – 2.14.06, Clayton Thorpe – 2.28.58, Chantel V D Heever – 2.28.58, Solly Gerber – 2.31.17, Gayle and Stephan Swanepoel – 2.33.16, Jane Mouton – 2.41.23
